Coal Pier Jul 1, 2006

Coal arrived at the station primarily via Lake Ontario and was unloaded at the pier. There is a covered conveyor belt which runs underground along the pier and then rises up towards the coal fields. An older photo I'd seen showed the coal being transferred from ships directly into the vertical structure on the right side of the photo — no idea what that was called or why it goes through there first...
