Unnatural

Our original goal was to find something similar to the scenes photographed by Ed Burtynsky. Somewhere along the way, we got lost. We did manage to find this (much smaller) example. In this case the lack of context certainly helps.

For scale, the narrow orange band in the middle is almost 2 feet wide (from top to bottom).

You tend to wonder how the landscape could become so brutalized on such a large scale, until you wander along and encounter large black pipes spewing some black tar-like substance into the lake…
