A.R. Williams Machinery CompanyThese photos document a visit on June 18, 2004 to an abandoned warehouse near King & Strachan. Or more specifically, the 'A.R. Williams Machinery Company, Liberty Street Plant'. This was one of the first abandoned buildings I ever explored. The building itself is fairly simple -- effectively a large open space with smaller areas to both sides. The building is located in the new Liberty Village development area in Toronto and has recently been surrounded by new cookie-cutter suburban town homes, a strip mall and grocery store. The other older manufacturing buildings in the area (such as the Irwin Toy Company building) are being converted into trendy new lofts and condos. For now it looks like this building will be saved and re-used in some fashion. |
