Abandoned Quarry

A visit to an abandoned quarry in Guelph, Ontario during August 2004.

The quarry site itself combined with some dramatic clouds made for a post-apocalyptic landscape. The remaining abandoned equipment only contributed further to this effect.

We didn't have much time to explore the actual buildings on site which was unfortunate. What we did see appeared to indicate the company had just disappeared one day. Files and records were still left intact and you could believe that the workers had been here moments ago. However, the long trek through the quarry site to the buildings left us with little time to document what remained.

Unfortunately I've heard that as of around November 2004 the remaining buildings on the site were demolished, making a return visit here to properly document the structures impossible. Such is the fate with these old locations...
