Catwalks criss-cross all over the place and in many cases there's very little floor surrounding them so you really feel like you're walking in the air. Again, fun for me - bad for height-phobic types.

The circular piece of equipment at the bottom of the picture is regenerative air preheater or "heat wheel". The air intake ductwork has been removed so it can be clearly seen. The platform near the top in front of the long window was
a nice warm pleasant place expecially in winter. It was a popular place where workers would go to "hide" for a smoke.
In those days we didn't have to hide for a smoke. We smoked everywhere,at meetings,classes,control rooms etc.
