Turbine Housing

July 1, 2006

I didn't know there would be few opportunities to shoot the huge turbines. Between my first and second visit they had all started to be dismantled, removed or tarped over.

I spent a little less than a full year working in the planr, some of it taking care of equipment below two of these turbine-generators. The APO-2 job involves checking the drains on the turbine and the cooling water for the generator and stator along with other tasks. I think the four AEI machines are the only ones ever imported from England and I don't think the company is still in buisness. They were installed in the mid 1960's.
