Grain Elevators
Once a testament to Buffalo's industrial successes, these grey towers now stand unused. Found throughout the city along its waterways, these structures were used for holding, measuring and testing grain. Their primary innovation was to speed up the unloading of grain from boats.
Over the course of half a year, I had the chance to visit the following Buffalo grain elevators:
- American Malting (Genesee)
- American Elevator (Russell-Miller Milling Co.)
- Lake and Rail Elevator
- American Grain
- Concrete Central
