Steel Hooks

What are these? I don't know (at least not when I took the photo). This helpful comment from Ashley LeBel explains:

These rods, located at the top of the boiler house are "Hangar Rods", I believe. Large boilers are hung from the roof of the structure to facilitate expansion as they heat up from atmospheric temperature to well over 1000 deg C.

The photo has been tweaked in Photoshop to saturate the colours and enhance the contrast. And even though it's been obviously manipulated, I really like the resulting effect. This one isn't so much about what you're seeing literally but rather the shapes, repeating patterns and elements.

I hate how the hooks in the bottom-right of the image overlap the dark background. I wish I'd noticed when I was taking the shot.
