The changerooms were outfitted with a series of cables hanging from the ceiling. If this was similar to what I've seen in other industrial changerooms, they were probably used as a simple 'locker' system. Workers would attach their personal effects to either a tray or bag, and then hoist (and lock) it up above. It's a simple method for making more efficient use of limited floor area.
