Winged Figures of the Republic (Hoover Dam) Dec 29, 2010

Two of these bronze figures sit at Hoover Dam on the border of Arizona and Nevada in the United States. The 9 meter (30') tall sculptures were designed by Oskar Hansen as part of an open competition. They're certainly a product of their time: modernism and art deco are prominently embodied in these — and all — aspects of Hoover Dam.
