Looking Up

March 24, 2006

We were recording in the studio the other night so I figured I'd bring along the camera for documentation. Except — I have very few photos which would actually indicate anything about a studio, music or recording. And heck, this photo of Ed is more about the silhouette than anything else.

Still, it was a nice change to get the camera out into something other than an abandoned building for the first time in awhile... (no matter how much I enjoy that!)

And in case you're wondering what Ed's actually doing here, he's adjusting some of the ambient mics over the drumset. The most important stuff as far as I'm concerned. :)

How is his hair casting that spiked shadow?

For a studio the lighting is exceptional. I like the fact that you captured his face at such an unusual angle. That angle really compliments his facial features, downplays his glasses, & shows off that stylish hair trend.

Totally off the subject. What kind of camera do you recommend the most? I am inspired by your photos and would really like to get into photography myself but am not sure where to begin.

I forgot to ask:How many are in the group & does the group have a name? What type of music is the group most gifted at? Also, what type of instruments are most frequently used? Do you have vocalists?

Very nice lighting Kendall .
I just find the rhs dark section and the section on the left a bit distracting , but i guess post you could eliminate them , if you wanted to that is , just the face is striking enough !
