Two Portholes

December 20, 2005

I'd post some snow/ice photos but hey, it's cold outside.

A few weeks ago I was invited to photograph a shipbreaking yard in Port Colborne. The vessel we photographed is in the very early stages of breaking so I was mostly documenting the 'before' stage. This is one of the few rooms in the ship. And it's one of my all-time favourite images.

This has a clausterophobic feel to it - which I imagine you'd get living onboard ship...something sinister in the air as well perhaps.

I've never been on a ship or an oceanliner, so this is very interesting.

Why don't you take a picture of your Christmas tree?

How cool, I wish people would invite me to places like this :(

If any fine modern art gallery knew what was good for them they would call you and print out a gigantic copy of this to hang up.

This is really stunning, the frame work, the light reflecting off the walls, the distance, the color, the composition, I love it all.

When I am not a poor college student I am going to buy a big print of this for my own house, it is certainly one of my top pics; you really have an eye for this stuff.

Nice. This is everything I come to this site to see. Deserted places, saturated colors, sharp photos and a clean/stark composition.

What is a shipbreaking yard? So sparse and desolate.

I love the light on the wall from the portholes.

This is fabulous. I agree with insdie shots for now - "baby it's cold outside." WHOA, way too many Christmas songs for sure!

Why can't I see "20.Two Portholes?"
