Flying

A few weeks ago I photographed Tyler Burke — another local photographer, and acrobat — at the Don Valley Brickworks. It gave me the chance to try some 'people' shots but in a context more suited to my tastes.

I'm not typically a fan of the selective colouring and it's quite an obvious addition here. But, I found it better with than without. It does feel a little bit 'greeting card' to me though...

Oh WOW! wow, wow, wow! Well worth waiting for! I love this! I can't put it all in a sentence, but 'free', 'boundless',
'exquisite', 'dance' come to mind. Can I buy this? This is truly art! Kudos Kendall! Truly amazing!

concept intriguing, added color idea superb.
The only thing I could add, would be a closer crop
of the subject with only a hint of surroundings.

This is awesome. It sure is an odd thing to see on your blog, that's for sure. (or anyone's for that matter) Not something I expected!

Black pants - check. Hair - check. You're not fooling anyone, Anderson. That's you.

This is really COOL!!! You had me really worried though Kendall. I thought you were getting your Freak on, especially after the last chair pic.

This shot is beautiful the way you used the selective coloring to enhance the acrobat.

What's wrong with greeting cards?!? I mean, what's wrong with *most* greeting cards. Make that, what's wrong with the four or five non-cheesey non-mass-produced greeting cards out there? Okay, what's wrong with the *concept* of greeting cards? Anyway I think the selective colouring is a fine choice in this case. Actually I want it to be more prominent in the photo. Which is to say, I know you really love the abandonment, but what I really find interesting is the person - so I want to see more of them in the frame.

I still send Greeting Cards year round, since I have friends around the world in remote places that do not have the luxury & convienence of the electronic world. Its photographers like ya'll that I count on.

It would be nice to have a rose in his (your) teeth and have that selectively coloured, too. No - I like it, but did you tell him about the mounds of asbestos?

Hey, I"ve already got the caption: "Hanging around?"

If you don't like the colour, is there another way, perhaps a very bright white?

Long time listener, first time caller...
I agree with your "greeting card" assessment. But it does look like he would have gotten lost in the photo without it. I think if the ribbon had been as dark as the sides of the photo, it would have drawn the eye to him as well. Other than that, I really like it though (I don't want my first comment ever to only be critical- I REALLY like this blog.)

Love the photograph and concept. Very inspiring. Only, I would have liked to seen a closer crop of the image. Some of the background is a bit distracting.

Just fantastic! I love this picture. I was wondering exactly what is he doing? I realize it's some kind of acrobatics, but I was wondering what is the name... if you don't mind me asking... and yeah.

I really like this one!

oh and your friend is quite the looker if I do say so myself. ^_~

Incredible!!!!But I must say that this picture would have never been as good if it hadnt been for the blue that came out in the ribbon.

Beautiful...fantastic. Tyler is a doll, and an incredible chameleon. You managed to capture his essence perfectly in this photo. Bravo. (Mouah Ty!)

This is wild i was there with my friend John that day you were shooting,
It was funny cause I remember walking around the corner, and there it was someone hanging from a rope. we were both stunned at first. Great shot i love it.
