Climbing the Dunes

October 10, 2004

This photo should give some sense of scale to yesterday's photo. These three kids brought along surf/snowboards to ride down the dunes at Coral Pink Sand Dunes. Shown here they (and we) are only at the beginning of the climb to the top. This was also taken a few hours earlier than yesterday's photo so the light was much more severe.

Lesson learned: climbing a large sand dune can be very exhausting. Iit's much, much harder than it looks.

Site news: For those interested, I've added a few more statistics options on the archives page. I'll be adding some more in the future mostly to satisfy personal curiosity.

I love this picture. For me, the tonal range and colors work well. I love the subject placement. If I had to say anything against it, it would be the lines around the subjects which I suppose are caused by jpg compression. This shot is very nice and worthy of a big file size. Great shot and congratulations.
