Davisville Station

August 16, 2004

There's one ridiculous little thing I like about this photo, apart from the perspectival lines of colour running off towards the same vanishing point, and that is this: the yellow object in the top right corner (a fence, fallen over) reminds me of a fish.

(and for that reason, this photo is dedicated to CvW)

I wonder how the top of the one car became red? Perhaps some untalented graffiti artist.

Nice shot Kendall. The angle/view of the station never wares. Good for you to capture it.

John -- We used to have red subway cars in Toronto many years ago.

Maybe they salvaged some of the workable parts from thsoe old cars.

Sorry Kendall, I had to post one more link.

Here's the inside of those red subway cars:

I remember riding in one of those only a few times but they were beautiful inside -- dim and cozy.

Vanishing points was my favourite assignment in gr 8 art.

And now that you mention it, it's totally a crab, not a fish.

Woah. I'd forgotten how red the outside of those subways were - but seeing the inside... that brought back memories. I think I remember being young and riding on them. I didn't live in Toronto, but would come in to visit family or see an Argos game. Every stop from Union to Yorkdale, although diminishing as people exited, people would hollar out Aaarrrrgoooos when the doors were opened.

It must be a Monday because I'm not seeing a fish, or a crab for that matter.

Oh, wait..

Woah, this is really amazing. For a moment I didn't know what I was looking at. Excellent perspective.

Cool Shot Kendall.

very nicely done!

Yes, the perspective is wonderful. I thought the yellow "fish" was really teeny - but if it is a fence, it must be much bigger than I first thought.

haha... i actually laughed out loud - it's totally a fish.
